About Stirling Skills Training

Stirling Skills Training commenced operations in 1974 as a youth development agency, founded by Thelma Gorton at Scarborough as "The Place". Over the last 30 years Stirling Skills Training has evolved into a reputable, quality provider of innovative training programs and traineeships to over 3,000 people per year.

While maintaining the original ethos of service provision as Thelma and her colleagues, Stirling Skills Training continues to capitalise on state of the art 'in situ' adult training strategies, adult learning techniques, and the latest research. Our service delivery methods ensure that:

  • We provide a warm, informal, friendly environment where people feel welcome;
  • We use facilitation processes where people build their self esteem and confidence;
  • We use novel training techniques to facilitate programs to enable employees to develop workplace skills;
  • We negotiate on the job traineeships, provide ongoing support and post placement follow-up.

Our approach to training reflects our organisation's core values of:

  • Access and Equity
  • Quality
  • Continuous improvement
  • Respect for individuals
  • Integrity
  • Community
  • Service
