Background and Brief History

Stirling Skills Training is a community enterprise. We have been delivering employment and training services since 1974 through the Community Youth Support Scheme for youth, and since 1989 through the SkillShare program for all age groups. We also manage community projects that provide employment and training opportunities, including projects for young people.

We are a not-for-profit organisation focussed on achieving community aspirations in employment and training, especially for economically disadvantaged people.

Stirling Skills Training's benevolent goal is to assist individuals to obtain and keep appropriate employment so that they can become financially independent. We have the infrastructure, the flexibility and the capacity to deliver a service that is focussed on the needs of individual disadvantaged people.

Performance

During its 43 years of operation, Stirling Skills Training has consistently exceeded its contractual obligations and achieved well above average outcomes. The organisation enjoys a well-deserved reputation for its quality training and its excellent customer service. We have a track record of delivering on time and within budget.

Our service delivery strategies ensure that we place people into appropriate work and the best quality of training and support is delivered. We have developed strong links with a wide range of employer organisations and individual employers who assist us in providing training and work for disadvantaged unemployed people. Stirling Skills Training is a member of Jobs Australia, the national peak body representing not-for-profit organisations around Australia that assist unemployed people.

We are a Registered Training Organisation under the Standards for Registered Training Organisation 2015 and deliver nationally-recognised training.

Governance

All our Directors are volunteer business people and community representatives who bring a diverse range of skills and expertise to the organisation, including knowledge and understanding of the recruitment and training needs of employers.
