SST part of $840 million Youth Employment package announced by Federal Government

In the 2016-2017 Budget the Federal Government announced an $840 million Youth Employment package to give young people the employability skills and real work experience they need to obtain employment. The new package centres on three key elements;
  • Prepare: Employability skills training to help the young person understand the exceptions of an employer by undertaking two blocks of training (mixture of accreditation and non-accredited training) with each block consisting of three week of training at 25 hours per week.
  • Trial: Job seekers are able to undertake a voluntary internship of four to 12 weeks in an employment placement that may have the likelihood of employment post placement
  • Hire: A new Youth Bonus Wage Subsidy scheme that can consist of a subsidy payment of $10,000 to support the employment of the job seeker.
Stirling Skills Training  (SST) are set to expand their Employment Services programs after the Federal Government awarded SST with five location to deliver Employability Skills Training in the following regions;
  • Perth North
  • Perth South
  • Kalgoorlie
  • Broome
  • Geraldton
SST are excited and proud to be a panel member in delivering generalist training with indicative numbers show that we have the potential to reach out, engage and deliver services to a pool of over 7000 jobseekers.
This is an exciting time for SST as we expand our current scope of services in the three existing Traction to Work locations, but also to move into the new regions of;
  • Broome
  • Geraldton
Under the expansion, SST will employ new team members to assist with the delivery of this new contract, the new service will be operational from 1st April 20174 and it’s a five year contract.

We are delighted to announce that Stirling Skills Training (SST) was successful in its Transition to Work tender and have been awarded sites in the Perth North ESA; Perth South ESA and the Kalgoorlie region.  This is a tremendous success for Stirling Skills Training and is recognition by the Federal Government of the work that SST has done in the past with young people.

The TTW contract will bring significant change and growth to SST and to assist, we have hired two experienced professionals to assist us in managing this exciting chapter in SST history.  Luke Dean , has been appointed as the General Manager of Employment Services.  Luke has significant experience in working with and managing government employment contracts and has been working in employment services for over 15 years.  Luke joins us from CVGT where he held the position of Contract Manager.  Luke joins Stirling Skills on the 17/02/2016.

Fulvio Penna, will take up the position of General Manager People, Quality and Strategy.  Fulvio has worked previously in employment services and brings with him significant experience in Human Rresources and quality assurance.  Fulvio joins us from ESH Group, where he was the national HR/IR Manager for the organisation.  Fulvio joins Stirling Skills on the 22/02/2016.

The Department has given us challenging time frames, but we have been able to meet these challenges and on the 15th of February we were able to open the branches in Perth South. We look forward to rolling out new office in the Perth North and Kalgoorlie regions.
